City Montessori School Lucknow Gomti Nagar (CMS) is a co-ed K-12 day school with 18 campuses in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh’s state capital. Drs Jagdish and Bharti Gandhi founded the organization in 1959 with the motto Jai Jagat (‘victory to the world’), based on the ancient wisdom of Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam (the entire earth is my family) and inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and social reformer Sant Vinobha Bhave. From the beginning, the school’s greeting has been Jai Jagat.
CMS has 18 campuses, five of which are recognized by the Basic Education Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Admission Policy of city Montessori school Lucknow Gomti Nagar
- On a prescribed application form, an application for admission is submitted to the Principal of the relevant campus.
- Admission to Pre-Primary classes and Playgroup is based on the child’s age: 3 years for the Montessori class, 4 years for the Nursery class, and 5 years for the Kindergarten (KG) class. The ability of a child is also considered. Alternative IDs are acceptable in the absence of a birth certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation.
- Admission to Classes III and above is based on the previous results and performance in a written test administered by the school, followed by an interview with the Principal.
- The CMS admission policy is set out in the CMS dossier that is received for all students at the end of each year, in advance of the beginning of the new academic year, using the annual examination report card. Prospective parents who request admission are also allowed.
